The Ultimate Beach Party – Port Dickson Beach Rave

Last week, 2 different friend asked me to go for 2 different holidays.

Friend no. 1: A noisy, hot, sweaty beach.
Port Dickson.

Friend no. 2: A quite, cold, cool mountain.
Cameron Highlands.

It was a damn tough choice if you ask me. In Port Dickson there’s this beach rave going on and it’s like a major huge event where youth people will be jumping up and down going all around and it’s like once in a blue moon thing ya know. However, in Cameron Highlands there will be my old high school mates jumping around in the cool breeze, creating sound pollution and things like that. Well, I’ve always wanted to go on a holiday with them so it was a big choice between the beach and the mountain.

Before I could actually make a choice….

Friend no. 1 went out and bought tickets for me without my knowledge. ~!@#$%^. Pissed me off. So no choice but to go to Port Dickson.

Bye bye mountain…

In Port Dickson I stayed with Cynthia and her friends so it was nice and fun fun fun. I refused to stay with friend no. 1! Hahaha.. kidding… jangan marah ye. Neways, for someone who don’t quite enjoy dancing to trance, I had quite the fun. DJ Johan Gielen is so HOT. Ok…sorry, for those who don’t know me I have a thing for old ‘mat salleh’ guys. ANYWAY, there he was on stage raising his hand, singing to his songs…damn he looked like God to me. I have a feeling he feels like God too. It’s like everyone’s bowing down to him...didn’t actually happen but you know what I mean. And he plays good trance music too. For the first time I could actually enjoy dancing to trance. Freaky freaky…

I realized a lot of guys was wearing this flair and colourful looking pants. I thought it was hideous but apparently, it’s the “in” thing for shufflers.

Shufflers: People who dances to trance but only use their foot works.

These shufflers as they call themselves, wears flair or phat or what I like to call them ‘lala’ pants bugs me like mad. I mean hey, it ain’t easy to shuffle man but they took out a hell lot of space where they stand or dance and when they shuffle, you really have to stay out of the way man. They don’t care wan… they kick you, your problem lor…

So neways, 4.30 am and everyone’s sweaty and exhausted. We decided to head back to our apartment to ‘chilling kemilling’. A few of them became party poopers and went straight to sleep. Lousy people! But some stayed up to enjoy the moment.

6.00 am, my good friend Cynthia Ong Mei Ting, said “Hey, let’s wait a while more then we head down to the beach and watch the sun rise!” So all of us was like “Yeah! Let’s go!” 5 MINUTES later…

Mahani: Eh? Where’s Cynthia?
Kelvin : She sleeping already wor!
Mahani: Pukimak punya perempuan!

I couldn’t stop calling her a traitor after that.

Around 6.30 am, everyone felt tired so they decided to head for the bed. So I was like “ok”. I walked into the room I was supposed to sleep in and it was conquered by Cynthia, Ming Shen, John and Wen Loong. Ok. So I went to the second room and there’s Marvin, Michelle, Jason and Janice black. Baah! Walked to the last room and there’s Shaun, Sarah, Kelvin and Janice red. Babi! I had no idea where to sleep! So poor me stole one blanket from the first room, made it as a mat AND my blanket in the second room. Took my bag and it became my pillow. That was the saddest thing that happened to me in Port Dickson.

In the end, we all thought it was a great trip to the beach.

A Place Like Home

Life in University Teknologi Mara feels like living in prison.

My faculty is in the Shah Alam stadium, yes…inside/around the football stadium. That crappy, neglected, low maintenance stadium is supposedly our sanctuary. Sometimes the lift breaks down so we have to walk four floors up in the dark. Sometimes we’ll be walking in darkness due to black outs. The best part, most of the time half way getting knowledge from the lecturers, the air-condition can just stop. There are no windows in our class so we can die of natural death.

I don’t know why but I feel Shah Alam is extra HOT. With the sun and the heat, we can also die of natural death. When the haze contaminated our country (Whoever did it! You lil’ mo’ fo’s!) I could feel the heat burning my skin. That was hell.

I have 10 subjects. 10!!!! Law students have 3! And most of it are pretty boring and tough. I don’t know why but we gotta learn psychology and shits like that. The classes that I like are mostly practical classes. Which are only 2 classes! Haha! Typical me. Who likes theory anyway? Unless your left brain works better than your right brain. Hoki and Hoka.

I have an English subject. Woohoo? Hamlo’s ass! I’m basically learning primary school’s English!

Dr. Peter Pereira: Repeat after me class. ‘Is she going to the mall tomorrow?’
Class: 'Is she going to the mall tomorrow?’
Dr. Peter Pereira: Again.
Class: 'Is she going to the mall tomorrow?’
Mahani: Get me outta here!
Harith: Huh? Zzzzzzzz….

My university’s orientation was more than hell. Forgot to write bout that. Long story though but here I’ll just keep it short. For a start we sleep at 2 wake up at 4 then walk up the hill then walk down the hill, eat rice and hard boiled egg (how pathetic) then walk up the hill then walk down the hill again. Basically, we did a lot of walking! I only enjoyed the last 3 days (I was there for a week for your info!) cos I get to perform for the closing ceremony. Heheh… Dancing and performing just light up my life…

Sigh… I miss dancing… right after Rexona I was like “Thank You Lord!” a few days later I was like “Baaaaah! I wanna dance!”

Grand Finals!

Second place! OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Fiuh! It’s all over baby! 2 months of stress and exhaustion!

Anyway, there’s three challenges in the grand finals.

1st challenge – freestyle… hahahaha! We sucked! No need to say more!

2nd challenge – judges choice… we did a broadway number. Peter Ong’s choice. It was pretty tough to choreograph but we hit it. They loved it!!!!!!!

3rd challenge – our own song… now this one we can really show what Funky Socks is all about! Asmaradana + Safri Duo! Peter’s comment: “I have a confession to make. I never really thought you girls deserve to be in the finals but now I really have to change my mind. That was really impressive.” Damn!

So in the end…we got second place. I was aiming for that actually. Because I know we can never beat Dance Maniacs (because they’re professionals!!!!!) They’ve been consistent all the way so no doubt. Whatever! They’re like 29 and we are only 18! Gah! Oh and we beat all the girl groups
and one of the judges Mindy Teoh said we are by far the best girl group ever! Hehehehe…

I love all my friends who came to support! 2004 seniors of smkdu, my Taman Tun friends, the rest of the incredible Funky Socks, Jesen and geng, Gothic Freeze, our parents! There's so many of you! Aaaah! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Love you guys!

Last but not least, my baby… you went to all of our challenges, scream your lungs out, became our referee, love and care for us. God, I love you...

I’m gonna miss you people:

Rexona – Ai Leen and Sunny! I love both of you like mad!!!!!
