Dance's a Pain In the Arse
Pon pon! Here I am again updating this blog of mine with my oh-so-happening life.First dilemma, my dance class. Well, it hasn’t started yet. Will start on Friday at 8 p.m. in Akarkarya studio. I had a free trial last week and it went alright. The Funky Socks-ers was there to support me, my sayang Yau Chuan was there too and there were some familiar faces from my old school. I taught them an old dance of mine. I didn’t have the time to choreograph a new one since it was all a last minute planning kinda thing. Typical me.
Straight on to the second dilemma. A year ago, a group of friends decided to organize a Valentine’s Day event on the eve of Valentine’s Day in Atmosphere and they asked me and my dance group to perform for that event. Well, obviously I wouldn’t want to miss that kind of opportunity so I said yes. So one year has passed and as I practically lost all sorts of memories, out of the blue they called me and wanted to confirm with me about it. As usual I practically forgot about it bla bla bla yada yada yada (I think I’m suffering from short-term memory loss) and I said ok and of course I told them that I’ve stop performing for free.
Bad idea.
They straight away told me that it’s actually a charity event for the Tsunami victims and all the other people who will be performing (who are actually celebrities) are doing it for free. They told me that we will get publicity and we’ll be promoted in Juice magazine. Also there’s some big shots from the entertainment area will be there too. Adoi… if in that case it’s not my call because I’m doing it for the love of dance, not for publicity and I have to think of my dancers too. I’m just so sick of performing for free! I had to ask for something in return. It’s not like I’m money crazy or something, our mothers gotta pay for the dance studio, car petrol and the non-obvious, our time and effort. It wouldn’t be fair for poor mams. The organizers are pretty much full of bull actually.
- Even if it’s a charity thingy, they’re obviously not gonna give their whole benefits. So practically they do have the money.
- I seriously don’t think that other celebrities will actually do it for free even if it’s a charity thingy. It’s not easy for their manager to let them do these kinda things for free.
- One of the group celebrities is not happy about it either. So they’re asking for RM1500 and the organizers are actually considering about it.
- Heck! I’m only asking for RM125! I’m not asking for much. RM125 for a 5 hour studio payment. Is that too much! Baaaah!
So I told them, if they still refuse to give that small amount of money I asked for then find us a dance studio where we can practice for free. Fair enough?
Third dilemma. All this conflicts is making me so stressful. I have exactly 2 weeks before the big day and I’m having the thing they say choreographer’s block. I can barely move. It’ll all just come out crappy. Plus, stupid back pains! I’m actually on the verge of giving up but I guess that wouldn’t be fair to The Funky Socks-ers. God damn it woman!
My life is so wonderful…
